Afterschool Awards and Recognitions!
We are thrilled to celebrate the achievements of three outstanding members of the Alaska Afterschool Network. Congratulations on receiving these recognition awards!
Katie Holmlund
Katie Holmlund, Petersburg Medical Center, has been selected as a 2026 Alaska Top Forty Under 40 awardee by the Alaska Journal. Top Forty Under 40, recognizing an extraordinary group of young professionals whose leadership, drive, and community commitment are helping shape Alaska’s future. Katie is the Youth Programs Development and Advocacy Coordinator for Petersburg Medical Center. She oversees PMC Kinder Skog Nature Program and ORCA Camps, which are outdoor afterschool and summer camp programs. Katie was also recognized as a 2022 Afterschool Superhero Award for developing quality afterschool programming in Petersburg. Kudos Katie on being selected for this prestigious recognition!
Lily Tegner
Lily Tegner, Serve Alaska, has been selected as a 2026 National AfterSchool Association Next Generation of Afterschool Leaders Awardee. NAA's Next Generation of Afterschool Leaders program identifies 30 leaders 30 years old or younger who are influencing the field of afterschool. Lily was the Alaska Afterschool Network’s AmeriCorps Project Director, and she created the Afterschool AmeriCorps STEM Coach program. Lily recruited, placed and trained over 50 AmeriCorps members who expand afterschool STEM learning opportunities for students throughout Alaska. Lily is currently working at State of Alaska - Serve Alaska where she is now supporting AmeriCorps grantees throughout Alaska. Congratulations Lily!
Lindsy Weaver
Lindsy Weaver, Fairbanks North Star Borough School District (FNSBSD), was selected by the Afterschool Alliance as a 2026 Afterschool Ambassador. Afterschool Ambassadors work in their local communities and states to build awareness about the need for afterschool programs and to act as a voice for individual programs and for the afterschool movement. Lindsy was selected to participate in the Afterschool Ambassadors because of her strong voice for advocating for students and families to have expanded access to afterschool and summer learning programs. Lindsy is currently the Director of FNSBSD 21st Century Community Learning Center Programs and the Alaska Statewide 21st CCLC Mentor. Thank you, Lindsy, for being an advocate for afterschool!
