Join us in Juneau, November 7th and 8th for the 2019 Alaska Afterschool Conference

 

The Alaska Afterschool Conference is designed to support the professional development of Alaska's out-of-school time providers, featuring more than 40 workshops. This conference is a partnership between the State of Alaska Department of Education & Early Development, the State of Alaska Department of Health and Social Services, the Alaska Afterschool Network, and our generous sponsors, for whom we are ever grateful.

Conference Registration 

Early Bird ($100) registration closes at 11:59 pm on October 4, 2019.

General Admission ($125) registration starts at 12:00 am on October 5, 2019.


Preconference Institute

The Preconference Institute: November 6,

prior to the regular 2-day Alaska Afterschool Conference on November 7-8. 

 

This year, there will be two Preconference Institute offerings: Healthy Lifestyles and Staff Social and Emotional Learning & Leadership. Both Preconference Institute sessions will be held on November 6, prior to the regular 2-day Alaska Afterschool Conference on November 7-8. The Preconference Institute is geared toward all afterschool program types and space is limited to 50 participants each session. Organizations should consider taking a select, collaborative team approach when attending this Institute.

Workshop Proposals

If you would like to present a workshop at the conference, please fill out the workshop proposal form below. All proposals will be reviewed by our conference selection committee. Below are a few areas of interest for workshop proposals:

  • Social-Emotional Learning (SEL)

  • Trauma Informed Practice

  • Culturally-Responsive Programming

  • STEM or STEAM

  • Substance Use Prevention

  • College & Career Readiness

  • Language Arts

  • Health & Wellness (physical and emotional)

  • Behavior management

  • Program management

  • Family engagement

  • Inclusive programming for youth with disabilities

  • Secondary programs/teen programming


Vendor Exhibitor Hall

Single day, and multi-day registration for the conference's Vendor Exhibitor Hall Tabling is now open. Registration for a single day Exhibitor table is $100, for both days is $150. Vendor Exhibitor Hall Tabling Registration provides vendors access to an eight foot table, two chairs, promotion in the conference guidebook, 2 passes for entrance to lunch and lunch programming. All vendors are encouraged to have interactive booths and provide free outreach materials to conference attendees. 

The conference's Vendor Exhibitor Hall Tabling area is available November 7th 8:30-5:30pm and November 8th, 8:30am - 3:30pm. General Admission to the Alaska Afterschool Conference is a separate registration fee ($125) and is not included in Vendor Exhibitor Hall Registration.

Hotel Accommodations

A group block has been held at the Four Points Hotel for conference attendees to book hotel rooms at a discounted rate during their stay in Juneau. Overflow Hotel rooms will be at The Baranof Hotel in Juneau.

Travel Scholarships

Travel scholarships* are to assist Alaska Afterschool Network partners with travel to the Alaska Afterschool Conference, November 7-8, 2019, in Juneau, Alaska. 21st Century Community Learning Center and Positive Youth Development Afterschool Program grantees are not eligible to apply.

 

Scholarships are intended to cover travel cost (airfare, mileage) associated with travel to and from the conference. Scholarship recipients are asked to cover additional expenses, such as registration, per diem, and hotel accommodations. Partners receiving scholarships are expected to attend the entire two days of the conference while in Anchorage, and to represent the Alaska Afterschool Network well. 

 

*All scholarship funds are provided by the Alaska Afterschool Network through the generous support of our sponsors.

The 2019 Alaska Afterschool Conference will be held on Thursday & Friday, November 7-8. A Preconference Institute & site visits will be held prior to the conference on Wednesday, November 6.

Where?

This year's conference will be held in Juneau, Alaska, at Centennial Hall.
